Lot of 4 Old Chinese Republic Era Pewter Beer Tankard / Mug Hand Chiseled Dragons. Circa 1940s. All mugs were hand chiseled with 4-toe dragon patterns. Although the pictures are similar, each dragon is slightly different. Three of the mugs have glass bottoms and one has a pewter bottom. All mugs are stamped on the edges of the bases. One says "Swatow Weng Lee", one says "Chip Hang Chao Yang", and the other two say "Made In China". They were made in the same period (approximately 1940s) from Fujian, China or Hong Kong. Each mug measures 5.25" tall, 3.25" at the mouth, and 3.6" at the bottom. The weights ranged 13 to 15 ounces. Because of the soft nature of pewter metal, all mugs have some surface dings/dents on them due to use. But overall great vintage conditions!This rare set of unique beer tankards / mugs is great for collectors, as well as for displaying in your cabinets!
